About the Clean Up Project

About the Event

The Our Savior's Lutheran Church Sunday School students and youth group believe in taking care of God's creation! Our goal with this project is to work together to clean up areas of Superior, WI, and to educate the community on the effects of littering, illegal dumping, and our trash. Please join us on May 19th at 11:00 am while we clean up Superior neighborhoods and parks!

After the clean up we will have a small celebration, free lunch, and a free participation prize drawing.

Free Prize Drawing for Kids that participate!

During the celebration there will be a free prize drawing for all children that participate in the clean up project and pledge drive.  Here are the ways kids can earn entries into the drawing:

  • One entry for every person they get to commit to a pledge during the pledge drive (i.e. 5 people pledge = 5 prize drawing entries)
  • Paticipating in the clean up will earn two entries

About the Fundraiser:

Prior to the event, the students and youth are asking their family and friends for pledges in the amount of a nickel, dime, or quarter per pound of garbage we collect during the clean up. The proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit two important causes this year! Fifty percent of the funds will go to support the OSLC Water Campaign and the other fifty percent will fund community projects for students to participate in during the 2012-2013 school year. We plan to keep helping... one project at a time!

About the OSLC Water Campaign:

This year the Clean Up is proud to team up with OSLC's Mission and Outreach committee to raise awareness and funds for the ELCA World Hunger Water Project!  The ELCA Water Project helps provide water solutions for people around the globe that do not have access to safe and sufficient water.

Community projects that were supported by the past Community Clean Ups:

*Apple Picking Community Project

* Christian Critters Party - a free community carnival

* The Thanksgiving Food Drive - So far we have passed out 25 baskets with food for Thanksgiving meals to Superior Families in need.

*Christmas Cookies, Cards, and Carols - Students visited a nursing home to sing to residents and deliver cookies and cards

*All Future & Past Community Clean Ups

Many community outreach projects that encourage and teach kids to take care of all creation from people to animals to the earth will be scheduled for the kids to participate in.
